RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Recap: A Star Is Fallen (Matt Rogers for Vulture)
Well, owwwwkaayyy. Forgive me for gagging so, but I genuinely thought we’d seen the most shocking elimination of the year with Monique ousting Latrice a few episodes ago. That is simply not the case, honey.

I’m furious! So proud of Monet and Naomi turning it finally but I screamed at the elimination. Naomi better admit this was shrewd game playing because I’m not here for continued revisionist history where we act like dear Latrice’s game has been at a save-worthy level, compared to Manila who was lined up to win the whole thing.

Manila Luzon has a ... response music video? Manila Luzon – "Go Fish" feat. ... Naomi Smalls (Premiered 12 hours ago) -- "This is not the end... pick a card and try again! Go Fish!"

And from the way-back (Nov 5, 2012): Latrice Royale & Manila Luzon -- The Chop

I think the All Stars structure is fundamentally broken. The competing queens will never crown the most deserving winner.

ugh, finally saw it. That was...something. Just reading about it I was all 'woohoo somebody knows how to make good television!' but actually watching the episode, I gotta agree with ThePinkSuperhero. There must be at least some acknowledgement that the winning queen was the best in the season, but the way the show is structured, it actually pays to be safe the whole time until the finale, and not stand out too much. Hm.

On the plus side, there was an awful lot of love in this episode, and it was honestly sweet to see. Watching Ru get choked up is not a think I thought would ever happen, but it was lovely. As were the array of kinds of love on display. It made me happy to watch.

I don't think Manila is too terribly upset... she timed her album drop to perfectly coincide with this episode, is getting a TON of great (free!) publicity, and will be impacted probably very little indeed by not being the AS4 winner. I don't know who will be the ultimate winner, but I do know that of all the remaining queens, I'd still rather pay to see Manila's show than any of theirs.
