Curfew: Episode 1
February 23, 2019 9:39 AM - Season 1, Episode 1 - Subscribe

IMDB's synopsis "A group of amateur drivers from all over the world compete in an illegal night-time street race." Featuring Adrian Lester, Adam Brody, Miranda Richardson, Sean Bean, Guz Khan (If you haven't seen Man Like Mobeen, you're missing out), Robert Glenister. THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!

TWD meets Death Race or something. Adrian Lester dies in the first ep. I know he's too good for this show but a mini-Hustle reunion with him and Glenister would have been nice.

What even is this show? If this is illegal, how are you swiping ID to enter the starting line? How is this so organized with giant monitors and excellent A/V setup? Does it not matter that you've killed a bunch of soldiers? Other than staying indoors at night, the city seems fine. Why leave? You're supposed to be in bed at night ANYWAY. Did the boyfriend really hook up with both sisters?

Jason Stathem is pissed he wasn't given a part.

I'm intrigued but this has that sky original programming stink all over it. Is it... tolerable?

This is, objectively, really bad... the writing is bad, the cartoonist cheap-o special effects are bad, the production design is bad - the future = now, with some shutters / grills bolted on (I particularity like that in one shot they could only be bothered to put shutters on half the front of the building or frame it so we didn't see).

But there's a whole array of decent acting talent and they really go for it, not taking it seriously for a second.

Also it IS 28 Days Later meet The Purge meets Mad Max meets Fast and the Furious meets Death Race 2000 meets The Wacky Races with an 80s bubblegum pop soundtrack.

So I'm totally addicted, basically.

I like the characters, some of them quite a lot. But the effects and camera work feels amateur hour.

Then came the fast zombies.

Good description fearfulsymmetry; I'd add Cannonball Run to the list for the bunches of disparate weirdo teams.
