"What do you mean, Caleb killed his whole family?"

"You know, its a figure of speech..."

OMG, I think I was simultaneously giggling and going "Ohhhhhh, shit...." at that! I had totally forgotten Yasha doesn't know. Honestly, since all the *players* know, I've lost track of what *characters* know.

Yeah, that whole conversation was amazing, and the "I'm just learning how to people" made me actually feel for Yasha.

Plus the "I've killed my whole family, I'll throw you under the bridge" line.

This was the first time in a while where I thought that they could all die (especially during the bridge scene). I'm having a hard time imagining Nott lasting as a character for much longer - either she's going to die or she's going to stop adventuring.

And the whole 'double pulling them through the mirror' managed to be creepy every single time. What the hell, Matt.

I think before this episode only Nott and Beau knew the full extent of Caleb's backstory...he's carefully danced around it with everyone else. But I like the fact that they work pretty hard at character knowledge vs. player knowledge.

Matt is SOOOO good at being creepy. I love watching Travis's face during it, too - he is simultaneously horrified and fascinated. I love how good the Dwarven Forge dungeon looked with the mirrors and the fog, too!

And yes, that bridge was super stress inducing! I kept waiting for someone to fall off without a way to save them, or too many of them failing their saving throw, or something more to come at them. I swear Matt put that whip in there as bait to slow them down and distract them...

I'm not sure about that; I think there's still some issues for Nott to resolve. A few episodes back, after she reunited with her husband and then the group set out again to adventure, she disclosed to Caleb that she liked the adventuring life and feeling like she was capable and contributing; it makes me think that she at least has realized she wants more than just becoming Veth again; that she's changed beyond what Veth was, and even if she does become a halfling again, she's realized she wants more out of life than being Yezza's spouse. I'm wondering if the return to drinking is part of that - she has Yezza back, but she's also enjoying her new life & skills, and she needs to find a way to balance all of that - she needs to find a way to amalgamate both Veth's life and Nott's. (It also seems to me that the hard drinking really resumed after the incident at the Overcrow, where Nott really blamed herself for things going sideways, but I'm wondering if there's an existential crisis there that Sam is exploring by having her dive back into the bottle).

I want to be clear that I think that is all in Nott's head - Yezza seems really accepting and supportive of her, and from their brief times together so far, he seems to view her as an equal and someone who was always capable in her own right; but I think Nott has some sorting out of a few issues left before her story is done. Which is not to say that Nott might not die in the near term - Sam is playing her in a bit of a dangerous fashion - but you can play cautious in D&D and still get dead if the dice turn.

I've really enjoyed the whole dungeon delve. I like how it is grinding down the players too, I think they are feeling pretty far out on a limb.

I also like how Mercer has been rolling out very classic D&D monsters. I didn't even realize this was a gibbering mouther until he said the word gibbering.
