Okay, so the pollen wasn't sex pollen. I'm kind of surprised. I thought with the more mature, adult tone this show was taking, it wouldn't be afraid to go there. At the same time, I'm kind of glad it didn't. One of the key points about the source material is that Abby is attracted to Swampy, even though he's a big, green plant. If they had opted for Abby and illusion Alec to engage in amorous physical activity, it would have been denying the reality of Alec's current existence. Having a relationship based on false images of each other is far from fair or healthy.

The Sheriff was a complete idiot to give Avery the gun. I mean even somebody who had never seen any of the show outside of that scene could have predicted what was going to happen.

I wasn't however expecting the Sheriff and Maria to be in cahoots to get rid of Avery. That was a nice soapy twist. The show is really is showing that had it continued, it would have been the Dallas of the swamp.

I did enjoy seeing Maria have the opportunity to show something other than obsession with her dead daughter and depression/neurosis/whatever diagnosis the writers had in mind. I like the smart, calculating business woman.

It looks like Avery is going to take the place of Abby's dad as the avatar of the Rot in this interpretation. That's fine. There is no need to bring in another character just to create a major foil for Alec.
