RuPaul's Drag Race UK: Boot Sale Outfits
October 26, 2019 9:33 AM - Season 1, Episode 3 - Subscribe

This week RuPaul tests the queens’ sewing skills and fashion sense as they are challenged to create show stopping outfits from junk found at a car boot sale.

The original queen of British fashion, Dame Twiggy, joins Michelle Visage and Graham Norton on the judging panel as a third queen sashays away from the competition. Also, Drag Race All Star, Raven makes a cheeky guest appearance.

The mini challenge at the start of the episode was a country fair where the queens showed off their dance moves around a maypole - Cheryl was the mini challenge winner. For the main challenge, the queens had to create outfits from car-boot sale items sold by Raven from second season of RuPaul's Drag Race and the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars.

Crystal, The Vivienne and Divina were praised for their runway creations, while Sum Ting, Vinegar and Cheryl were criticised. Divina was declared the winner of the challenge, while Sum Ting and Vinegar were placed in the bottom two. The pair lip-synced to "Would I Lie To You?" by Eurythmics. Sum Ting was declared the winner and Vinegar, having landed in the bottom for the second time, was eliminated from the competition.

As of this episode, both Baga and Crystal are really growing on me, though Baga's outfit was terrible. I was very surprised she wasn't in the bottom for it, but I guess that the three that were had particularly horrible outfits. I was sad to see Vinegar Strokes go.

Something about Cheryl Hole is very uncanny valley for me. I feel like maybe she reminds me a lot of a bizarro Alyssa Edwards? But she is too self-aware to be as charming as Alyssa.

Aw, Vinegar - I was sad to see her go, too! (But I totally lol'd at her shocked oh my gods during the bottom two announcement.)

Out of drag, Cheryl reminds me a bit of Jack McBrayer as Kenneth the Page from 30 Rock - might that be it? Another person she vaguely uncanny-valley reminds me of is young Eric Idle, but not nearly to the extent as she reminds me of McBrayer. Alyssa Edwards also has some similarities in the chin/jawline area, which is where I think the similarities end - I agree she's not quite as charming as Alyssa, nor as chaotically unpredictable.
