Oh man, that was exciting to watch. I have a feeling Carrie will survive the car crash/bombing, but Saul, John Redmond and the faceless driver will not make it out of there alive.

Wondering if Dennis will be killed in the attack? And the ambassador Martha Boyd? And Lockhart? Did anyone notice if the men entering the tunnel were the prisoners that were exchanged earlier?

What a jerk Dennis is, only confessing when his own life is in danger, as if the lives of his fellow countrymen and countrywomen were not important somehow before.

I literally said the same thing as this post when that happened.

I wonder if that really was Saul's wife on the phone or if the phone call was some kind of signal/indication of some sort. As soon as the phone was passed to Saul and he said "it's me" the car in front of them exploded as if on cue.

Agree with travelwithcats on Dennis. Pretty fucked up, what he did. I was worried that his wife really was angry at Carrie and was so relieved when I saw that she was actually working with her. I think this season is getting better as it goes on.

Yeah, I was wondering if they are playing more games than they used to on the show.

Lovely tension, nervous and uncomfortable through the whole episode. Particularly the prisoner exchange. Particularly Saul just sitting down refusing to participate. And all the drama between the ISI operatives, who knows what. Delicious.

I'm not so excited about the big twist, the embassy invasion. They've only got 3 episodes left in the season and I fear I can see exactly what they will be. Quinn will of course come out a big Murder Death Robot hero. Oh no, maybe they'll give Dennis a chance to redeem himself, wouldn't that be awful? They've done a great job setting him as a craven, despicable coward (and a plagiarist!). Don't ruin that.

This Vox piece by Todd VanDerWerff is a nice bit of critical explication about this season. Explores the theme that the show is an allegory for American foreign policy, with Carrie and Saul representing two aspects of America's role in the region.

Yeah, I love that apparently the ambassador's reaction was "You say my husband is a traitor? Yes, that makes sense. What can I do to help you nail him?"
