Black Lightning: The Book of Markovia: Chapter Four
February 11, 2020 4:28 AM - Season 3, Episode 13 - Subscribe
Black Lightning and his team descend upon Markovia on a rescue mission to rescue Lynn, who finds herself in even more trouble when she meets Gravedigger, meta human on the Markovian side.
It looked to me like Tobias took off when Gravedigger zapped Black Lightning in the hallway. Gravedigger is too good for a one episode bad guy!

My money is on a Gravedigger reprise. If only so that Black Lightning does not become a killer, no matter how emotionally just that might feel given his target.
This series is just so consistently good to great with comic book ideas translated to television. which just underlies the fact that it its real strength is social commentary without being preachy or polemical. This episode touches on so much emotion and character interplay that it felt more like a movie script. I know it is well outside the realm of the likely but I really wish this series got at least an nomination for a writing Emmy.

Yeah I don't think Tobias was with them on the plane. And I also hope Gravedigger didn't get killed off, but Wayne Brady isn't exactly budget-friendly to be brought back again this season, if at all for the show.
This was such a great episode, where everyone was just competent, from TC immediately noticing Erica's chip and disabled it (although that was confusing because he couldn't do the same for Khalil, or maybe because Erica wasn't dead like Khalil), to Grayle overcoming Brandon's earth powers by jumping at him from afar, and also Lynn's tricking Gravedigger to get his power.
I did note that with Gravedigger's powers it's tactically smart to kill him off at that moment, because knocking him out and capturing him is a huge risk for the trip back, no matter how heroic you are.

I finally caught up. I wasn't expecting this season to be the one where Black Lightning puts together his own team of Outsiders, but here we are. As Numaner said above, it was nice to see competent people doing what they needed to do and nobody carrying the idiot ball. Now that Arrow is done, it seems there's a battle for the crown when it comes to fight choreography, and this episode put in a strong bid.
I agree that Brady made a really solid heavy and I'd be happy to see him back in the future. I also echo what was said on an earlier thread that this arc is really being hurt now by being part of a blended Earth-Prime. It really feels as if some of Jefferson's super friends should be taking an interest in what's going on in Freeland, seeing as there are foreign invaders on U.S. soil.

Was Tobias on the plane at the end? I didn't notice him in the shots, and wasn't sure if he got there ahead of Jefferson during the Gravedigger vs. Black Lightning fight, and there were just too many characters/actors in the end to keep them all in frame (or on salary for every day of the shoot).
The TV Fanatic recapper said it was a shame Gravedigger got killed off, but I didn't think he was dead, was he? And, anyway, he's a meta and we're in a comic book universe, the show can bring him back anytime they want, really. I don't think I've ever seen Wayne Brady play a bad guy before, but it worked.
