Devs: Episode 3

Lily returns to work at Amaya and explains her suspicions to Jen and Anya. Forest is visited by Laine, a powerful senator asking questions about the Devs project.
I really disliked this episoded for 4/5s of it until the reveal in the car. I hate the "is she crazy and this is all a hallucination" trope and was so happy to see that it was a misdirection.

A little disappointed... an entire episode just so Lily can get her hands on the video which we as the viewer know was faked already. Plus an unconvincing intro "boys will be boys with toys" scene. It feels a little like narrative cheating to tease the most significant invention in history in the opening scene and then imply that it is mostly used for Rule 34. Still, I'm certainly going to watch this thing to the end, and Ex Machina is on Netflix, so watching bits of that while waiting for the next episode.
I have become obsessed with the song that plays during the end credits though...
I also enjoyed this recent AI Podcast episode with Alex Garland

Heh, the JFK question was one I almost brought up last ep as “why wouldn’t you look at this before scoping out Jesus?!”

The opening quantum cloud stuff included an obvious cut of Joan of Arc. When Lily first enters the campus, the soundtrack samples an audio clip from the Joan of Arc sequence.
My wife pointed this out. She’s solved the show, I think.
The emblem of France is the fleur-de-lis, a lily. We’ll keep watching. But we know how it ends, I think.

Why do they need a rule about not looking forward? In order to do so, they would need access to information from outside of our light cone, which would imply another incredible scientific break through. (I'm prepared to be disappointed on this point, but I can hope)
If they haven't looked forward, then Forest's fatalism is especially naïve since a unique past wouldn't imply a unique future.
