Answer Me This!: AMT303: Dewey Decimals, Sexy Cheese and Disney Turkey Legs
December 3, 2014 9:31 PM - Subscribe

Happy Thanksgiving to AMT’s American pals! Today’s episode is thematically appropriate for you, since it involves a question about Disney’s turkey legs; so don your turkey boxer shorts and turkey tops, strap on your turkey watch, inhale the delicious scent of turkey, plug in your turkey headphones and listen to Answer Me This! Episode 303 All the information about this episode is at answermethispodcast.com/episode303.

••• AMT303 Child-Friendly Rating: 30%. Sweary from the off. Obscene question about cheese ten minutes in, followed by a Fifty Shades of Grey-based prank, then the possibly non-consensual and definitely unprotected sex in Phantom of the Opera. Overall, not an episode to listen to on the school run. •••

Without searching, I will bet that a lot of those tags haven't been used before.

I always thought turkey legs were made popular at Ren Fairs. I didn't realize they were a big deal at Disneyland.

I think they were made popular at Ren Fairs. The Disney connection with them is new. I've been to Disney parks something like eight or ten times, but they didn't have turkey legs at the parks in any noticeable way. But my visits were all ten or more years ago. Apparently this turkey leg thing is new within the past few years.

The Disney thing was news to me as well. I usually listen to Helen and Olly to find out about British culture that hasn't made it here (such as the two-episode arc about Rock Circus), but here they were looking at some American culture I hadn't heard about.

Mostly I listen to hear Helen's impression of her husband's accent.

I think I can say with some confidence that I did not see turkey legs at Walt Disney World when we went in 2007, but did when we went in 2010, so that should narrow it down a bit.

And yet, it happens that I went to both Disneyland and World in 2012 and managed not to notice giant turkey legs at either. Strange.

Oh phew. I want to go back sometime, and somehow the idea of seeing turkey legs everywhere was really offputting. In glad to know this is not completely unavoidable.

Oh, yeah, I'm sure I could have missed them in 2010. I just happen to notice a couple of people eating them in short succession and then saw somewhere that was selling them. That was the trip we went to Animal Kingdom, so it's possible that they were only in that park at the time? There certainly wasn't turkey leg related merchandise that I saw.
