Every series is allowed a disappointing episode, right? After the wonderful, understated joys of episode 5, this felt ham-handed and mostly ordinary. Evan's work life is by far the least interesting element of the show, and the business developments felt tossed-together in a way that surprised me. And the use of flashbacks - flashbacks after 5 episodes! - stuck out like a sore thumb. Part of my disappointment may be with the way Gently has settled into married life by denying herself (the costume and hair choices for her this week do a fab job of conveying that containment), but while that's a sad development for her character it could have worked if the writing was more clear about where her head was at. Sorry to say this was kind of a clunker.
