Marvel's Helstrom: Season 1

As I prepped the post, I was reminded of just how much there was in the 10 episodes of this series, but how little of it ever really felt like it landed? There's a lot going on, and I'm not sure it all was necessary.

That said, Elizabeth Marvel pulled off a great double role and Sydney Lemmon is a bit of a standout as Ana. It had enough hooks to make me binge all 10 episodes in a day, which isn't usual for me. It's Marvel, but I only really noticed the one obvious Marvel tie-in, so take that for what it's worth.

It sort of kind of felt like Constantine, or maybe a bit like Grimm? That might just be Portland, though.

This is an interesting article that places the series in the context of the wrapping up of Marvel Television. The Ringer: Marvel's 'Helstrom' Won't Be Hard to Forget

Yeah, with a bit of distance from this weekend's binge it's sort of a shame that Marvel's TV universe is sort of up in the air at the moment. I mean, I know they're basically focusing 100% on the Disney+ MCU, all Heat Vision & Jack er Wandavision & Loki, and I'm looking forward to a TV universe that acknowledges the film universe exists? But on the other hand, they could've chucked ABC a bone and consolidated all their supernatural TV media into a package - Helstrom, Cloak & Dagger, maybe Runaways? But now it's all a bunch of the least inspired sounding shows known to man as we head into Phase 4.
