This true crime docuseries follows India Oxenberg as she grapples with her experiences in NXIVM, a self-help organization which turned out to be a sex cult.
The series goes in depth describing India's indoctrination by Allison Mack (who is currently awaiting sentencing) and Keith Raniere (recently sentenced to 120 years in jail). In addition to examining India's experience and recovery, various experts talk about "coercive control" and how prosecuting Raniere may be a step towards the US addressing this issue legislatively.

It's interesting that the NXIVM crew worked to actively recruit Hollywood folk and wannabe 'producers', and then when it all fell apart the natural response from folk leaving was 'well let's make videos about it'. Kind of a petard-related hoisting, really...

Multiple documentaries doesn't seem that surprising what with so many different issues involved. As Father Dragon mentioned there were a lot of film people in the cult and Raniere wanted his every word recorded (another petard related hoisting).
There is a possible documentary coming up titled the Lost Women of NXIVM, which is about women who died while involved in the cult.

I found this series much more informative than the Vow and they dealt with the delicate subject matter in a sensitive way while not shying away from the horror of what happened.
One of the moments that struck me the hardest was India talking about what it was like trying to just get a normal job or an apartment after being in the cult. People often wonder why victims don't just leave, and her experience illustrates how the stigma that victims face when they leave can be a hugely motivating factor in their decision to remain.
In addition, the cult experts address the myth that cults only prey on the vulnerable or the uneducated.
