I am so sold on this show. I have no idea if it's going to hang together in the end but these first episodes were so much fun. Kaley Cuoco's Cassie is so unhinged and messy but also someone I enjoy watching and empathize with. She's trying to do the right thing even if she has no idea how to do it. And, Rosie Perez forever (and I'm curious about the way all of that plays out, with whatever her secrets are). I like the flashbacks/hallucinations with Huisman's Alex. I didn't think I was going to like this as much as I did but I'm hooked.

Yesss. I was dying watching her drinking in this episode (all episodes, but especially this one with the FBI interview and sneaking into a mob FinCrimes mansion), but you can't fault that level of consistent characterization! Another thing they're doing, not too obviously, is pointing out that she's a giant mess but she does have some great EQ skills that might help her out eventually?

Yeah, I was a little worried that they might go too far into Cassie's various failings that it would provoke fremdscham, but I think they're managing it fairly well. The only plot line so far that I'd be happy to throw overboard is the attempt at grounding her with her brother's plans, but on the other hand we've seen enough of her history that it kind of has to happen now, doesn't it. But it feels like it has the potential to be the proverbial straw that breaks the story's back.
