I'm really enjoying this show. At this point most people are going to binge watch season one's tight, tense episodes. Great acting all around, especially from Lauren Ambrose.

I'm interested in watching this, but I also have a 4-month-old. How much does it linger on tragedy/grief before getting to the bonkers stuff?

I had to stop watching episode 9 for a bit and come back to it a day or two later. (I have kids here too.) The tragedy is handled very tastefully, but it was tense up to the point I had watched to. (That episode is directed by M. Night Shyamalan.)

The show sort of launches you into the first episode, you may get a little shocked at the first 'twist' but it moves right past that with a lot of confidence that I enjoyed. The whole first season is very tightly constructed and I was hooked from the beginning. Though the show didn't originate with Shyamalan, it does have his stamp of improbable characters in an improbable situation. But the acting is great and there isn't a bit of wasted dialog or badly done scene the entire first season.
