I liked it better than I thought I would; the beginning of the film is very different than the ending.
Loved the shade thrown at 'Slumdog Millionaire' and this felt a lot more plausible and explores more interesting dynamics.
Adarsh Gourav (Balram) does a very credible character growth.
The inclusion of "Americanised" characters, including Priyanka Chopra, is an effective counterpoint to highlight the very different dynamics that the lead character has to contend with as his reality.
It is not a pleasant film, and brings to mind a little bit of 'Goodfellas' and an unsavoury journey from poverty/ prejudice.

I read liked the book a few years back! Didn't know they made a movie. I will check this out.
