Interview with director Matteo Rovere

I came across this Italian film purely by accident last week and was blown away by it. It's only two years old but I had never heard of it and there are very few English language reviews available, so I guess it received a very small theater run in the states (if any). It's a brutal film that doesn't appear to soften what life must have been like in 753 BC.

Currently available on Amazon Prime.

This is worth a watch. More Game of Thrones than Steve Reeves sword and sandal picture. I find the lack of grandiosity refreshing. Just pain, mud and desperation. The language choice is pretty brilliant. Not that I could tell. FWIW, there seems to be an english dubbed version for free on tubi. Though I can't imagine why anyone would want it.
