It wasn't what I expected. The actual impeachment and trial was a small part of it, practically a footnote in the last episode. There was very little of Congressional Republicans; don't think Newt Gingrich was even portrayed. Instead we get Matt Drudge and Ann Coulter? Great job by Cobie Smulders . Would have liked to see the part where Gingrich resigns when the GOP loses seats in the midterms and can’t find a new Speaker because every candidate had an affair.

So I was surprised that Linda Tripp had such a large role, though Paulson was superb. When I learned Lewinsky contributed to the series, it made sense as Tripp had a huge part in Lewinsky’s part of the story. In the end, I preferred it to a Sorkin style duel between Clinton and Gingrich. Because to hell with both of them.

I liked that they did the same thing as in the OJ series where we get to see different points of view. Everyone is the good guy in their own story and a villain in someone else’s. I am glad show could admit Bill Clinton did commit rape, but the right went so far into the wilds trying to take him down they didn’t care.

The biggest surprise is that they portrayed the affair as rather romantic. I find that hard to believe, but that must have been how it felt to Lewinsky.
