I watched the pilot last night - I think this is too grim for me, especially as the last show I'd watch on a Sunday night. (Obviously, I could just save the recording and make it the first thing I watch on some other day and follow it up with something lighter, but, I don't know, I think this one just isn't for me.)

Karyn Kusama was such an inspired choice to direct this pilot.

Fantastic pilot (heh, pilot). I had heard great things about the show, but even if I hadn't, this would have hooked me from the start. I can see how it might be too grim, but I've been watching a lot of Bake Off and Ted Lasso over the holidays, so I'm ready for something like this.

That's the best pilot episode I've seen in a long time. I'm intrigued and will be giving it a watch. As someone who's very, very bad at recognizing faces, I appreciate that they're making an effort to clearly communicate who is who when they're linking the flashbacks and present day.

Love the show, don't get me wrong, but....19 months? The previous record for surviving place crash in Canada is 58 days, and that was back in 1967.

I assume this will be answered in future episodes, but BC and Alberta aren't exactly the surface of Mars. Even without active SAR, there are people living and working in the Rockies that you'd think would stumble over the crash site at some point.

Arg. ...surviving plane crash...

I was thinking the same thing. Planes file flight plans, people go missing, there's a lot of territory up there but not THAT much territory. If nobody finds me after a week I'd already be making plans to follow water downstream until I find civilization.

Found this on Roku (Pluto?) last night and really liked it. It teased out enough starting points and I tend to like things that jump around in time. I'm not expecting it to hew to reality so much as tell an interesting story, and I'm here for it.
