I might just be posting for myself here, but a friend pointed out that MJF -- by demanding an unappreciative millionaire to release him from his contract -- is casting himself in the same "piggy" role he cast Wardlow in months ago.

The hypocrisy is so perfect it's beautiful.

Disappointing news about Punk; I was really looking forward to the storylines I expected to come out of his run.

Indeed, I had to miss Rampage because of a family thing, and so I woke up to read wrestling Twitter going crazy re: Punk's injury.

What do you think? Strap a rocket to Wardlow and make him interim champ?

The main job of the interim champ is going to be being the most exciting choice for a match vs. Tanahashi and while I love what they’re doing with Wardlow right now I don’t think he’s that guy.

I'm just happy they're sticking with the interim champion scheme. I've always thought that was a really easy way to generate storylines.

I definitely want them to strap a rocket to someone. There hasn't been a genuinely surprising AEW World Championship moment since Jericho won it. Imagine Orange Cassidy going over Mox and then Tanahashi. Penta Oscuro going full Lucha Underground arm-breaker at the top of the card. Jungle Boy dedicating the match to his dad. And if it doesn't work, they can play absolute havoc with some old Attitude Era hotshot title runs, because Tony already has whatever the plan was for Punk in his back pocket.

Personally I’m thinking they’ll split the storylines. Whoever the interim champ is might defend at Forbidden Door, but Danielson will fight Tanahashi because he’s openly been asking to fight NJPW guys for years now.
