The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special (2020)
November 17, 2022 10:52 AM - Subscribe

Rey leaves her friends to prepare for Life Day as she sets off on an adventure to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force. At a mysterious temple, she is hurled into a cross-timeline adventure. Will she make it back in time for Life Day?

Star Wars gets into time travel! Is it canon? Who knows? But it was fun and even a bit touching in parts, in that Lego Movie kinda way. May upset some purists because of what it suggests about Palpatine.

I admit, I got a huge giggle out of the running gag with the blue milk.

Time travel is canonical to Star Wars. It appeared previously in Rebels.

Ah, I haven't gotten to that part of Rebels yet.

Since the original holiday special premiered on November 17, I'll wish everyone a belated Happy Life Day!

This special wins automatically for being the first time we see Finn training to be a Jedi, something I want to see more of in the Star War. The Lego Star Wars have generally been pretty good at hitting their targets and I love the awkwardness around replacement, be it Kylo for Vader by the Emperor, or the Emperor hearing about Vader betraying him, etc...etc. Luke fixing BB-8 was also dang sweet.
