Wanted to see more quaint peasants happily toiling in the field, waiving their wretched straw hat as the king trundled past.

This was an episode of character contrasts. The kind and caring Cersei as she speaking so supportively to Catelyn about Bran. Yet she wishes the child dead and would do the deed herself if possible. Catelyn is heartbroken over the injury of her child, yet fights like mad to save him from assassination. The honorable Ned Stark sins are laid bare, and despite his allegiance and love for the King, he refuses to talk about THAT one thing.

Except for Joffrey. He's still an ass who needs to be repeatedly slapped.

Cersei is a narcissist and only says nice things when it'll get her what she wants, while Catelyn is honest about most of her feelings and actions (except the mess where she blames John Snow for his father's indiscretions in war).

Different kinds of honor, at least in Ned's eyes. At least, that's how I see it.

Inside Game of the Thrones, Episode #2 speaks to the complex background/motives behind Cersei's talk with Caetlyn, and then onto Tyrion, more on Ned as a father, and his relationship to John Snow.
