Wow, this episode almost created a soft spot for Rachel in my heart, but then her ambition and class-anxiety got the best of her and here we are. I've never really felt much one way or another about Claire Danes, but she certainly makes a great evil-ex. Poor Toby, mistaking sex for love without taking the time to analyze the relationship's shaky foundations.
It was clear that Rachel's tears, upon learning she's pregnant, are not those of joy.

I do like seeing a relationship building and then disintegrating (see also the movie Blue Valentine); I suppose it's a trainwreck wherein I hope to gather intelligence about my own relationships.

I have a hard time watching Rachel grow more and more intense and greedy. I can empathize with Toby so much more. He feels like a good guy who somehow fell for Rachel. I'm not really sure why he did though. The line he says about 'I feel like you're no longer asking me - you're just telling me what you've already decided.' That's just so unhealthy in a relationship; he stopped fighting because she was just a whirlwind that he couldn't do anything about.
