The Legend of Vox Machina: The Rise of the Chroma Conclave
January 25, 2023 5:38 AM - Season 2, Episode 1 - Subscribe

The intrepid heroes, Vox Machina, find themselves facing the unexpected consequences of their defeat of the ancient blue dragon, Brimscythe. They are challenged to gather the tools and allies they need to meet this new threat.

Season 2 of the Legend Of Vox Machina hits the ground running with action scenes aplenty.

Sticking to the remit of providing quality Adult Animation, the episode contains plenty of Violence, Gore, and Adult themed jokes.

So pretty much more of the same from the first season - only with raised Peril stakes !

New Episodes are being released in batches of three and there are twelve episodes in total, so unless anyone suggests otherwise I'll be posting them in batches of three.

Is it just me, or is Scanlan's horny little bard shtick starting to get old? I might think differently if he were actually charming, but I find him increasingly irritating.

I tend to agree Scanlan is a bit grating, but I suspect it's because more than 60+ hours of Game Play time have been condensed into .. under 12?

This means that personality characteristics that were somewhat diluted when seen for a few minutes every week, amongst hours of play, have become quite concentrated.

Grog's baseline level of intelligence is worse, Percy is much more aloof, Keyleth is more naive and shy, Pike is off the charts aggressive .. I'm enjoying it, but it is a distilled, and concentrated form of all the characters.

I didn't start watching the game until episode 54, - even thought I know the broad strokes of what came before - and I'm enjoying the animation, but I'm not sure how a non game fan views the characters.

Scanlan was, for me, the absolute worst part of C1.
(Well, aside from Sir Not Appearing In This Film)

Apart from his amazing musical Inspirations, I disliked basically everything he did up until the Tarryon bit.

It’s taken me a long time to get to grudging admiration for Sam and what he can bring to the table.

I disliked Scanlan in C1 largely because he kept chasing after Pike, and I couldn't tell if Ashley was okay with that or if it skeeved her out.

I did miss Grog's outhouse chat with the sword, since I remembered it being hilarious, but I know there's only so much time they have available, and most of it needs to be plot-related.

I’m hoping there’s still time for that chat, iirc it only happened after the first fight or two he used it, prior to that he didn’t know it was sentient

I gave up on trying to watch C1 initially and stuck with C2 until I could go back with some love in my heart for the players, because of, mainly, Scanlan. He and Grog had an energy that I wasn't a fan of but that both the players seem to have grown out of to a large extent. It's important to remember that they started broadcasting their plays 8 years ago.

It does feel like a bit of a fast-forward (and tbh with 3 eps per drop I am probably not going to go into each thread individually as I can't remember what happened in each), but the news that Mighty Nein is greenlit for Prime suggests VM is paving the way nicely outside the core fans!
