All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite: Dynamite 4/12 and Rampage 4/14
April 12, 2023 4:53 PM - Season 4, Episode 28 - Subscribe

Underlying themes of vengeance and courage are the subtext of the evening, as Dynamite appears in Milwaukee. The Cream City will witness both The Outcasts and the Blackpool Combat Club take the opportunity to run roughshod over plucky underdog heels, there will be two championship matches... and also Keith Lee will probably hurl Chris Jericho into the sun.

The announced card the Dynamite:

--MJF’s presence is "mandatory" in Milwaukee
--Chris Jericho vs. Keith Lee
--Darby Allin vs. Swerve Strickland
--AEW International Championship Match: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Buddy Matthews
The House of Black has set their sights on Cassidy and the Best Friends since overcoming The Elite and the JAS last month. I would pay hard currency to see Danhausen attempt to play peacemaker or court Julia Hart.
--Riho & Skye Blue vs. Toni Storm & Ruby Soho ("The Outcasts")
The young faces have individually taken their beatings from the Outcasts, so it sure would be a good opportunity for some third person to round out their team to face The Outcasts at the next PPV
--Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa
The last members of the Elite still standing (!!!) are tired of Mox and Claudio's sneak attacks. If you watch this and don't get a little teary-eyed, maybe Dynamite's not for you.
--TNT Championship Match: Powerhouse Hobbs (c) vs. Silas Young
"The Last Real Man" made his debut in AEW in 2022, but hasn't done much. Putting him in a big hoss fight against Hobbs seems a good way to keep the champ occupied until a new challenger approaches.

What a fireball of a first half-hour: between Darby hurling himself at Swerve and going absolutely twink-maniac -- shades of Cody with all the foot biting and absolute daredevil tactics -- followed by Darby saying things that made character sense? Sting coming out with an actual promo for the first time in... since his brief WWE career? And it was funny and great and put over both MJF and Darby? It could have been shorter, but I don't know if it could have been better.

The following segment, where Hobbs steamrolled Silas Young only to watch his precious MacGuffin -- I mean, car -- get wrecked in a very Attitude Era manner.

The Muta Factor on this episode is very high... pretty sure Kenny tried to kill Moxley right there.

Me: "Why doesn't Hobbs run out there to save his car?"
Me, a few seconds later: "Oh, because they needed to pre-tape this to cut out all of the uninteresting forklift parts."

They definitely learned that from the Attitude Era.

There is perhaps no riff as embedded into my very soul as the classic Hardy Boys entrance music. That will wake me up from a coma.

I’m told that the reason why AEW was able to use the same entrance music for the Hardys that they used in WWE is that the music actually comes from one of those royalty-free background music CDs that commercial shops used to sell.

Yep. As ridiculous as it seems, not only was it not an original WWE song, they never bothered buying it.

Oh good, Jeff’s back! Looking forward to three or four months of “that thing you remember from twenty years ago, but worse” before his dedication to not being sober makes him infeasible to put on television again.

Some very good matches this week!
