Foxfire (1996)

The story of five teenage girls who form an unlikely bond after beating up a teacher who has sexually harassed them. They build a solid friendship but their wild ways begin to get out of control.
To me this didn’t seem campy (I decided to watch it because it came up in my recent Ask thread about campy movies).
Anyway. It reminded me of the book The Outsiders - just a little. And I always appreciate a good feminine revenge flick. And the fact that Joyce Carol Oats wrote the novel it was based on is pretty cool.

Yay - glad you watched it, bunderful! And I'm the person who felt it was camp. This might be colored by the fact that I got Jenny Lewis's autograph shortly after this came out and she signed it with her name and then "Rita - the fat one" and that always bowled me over.

I saw this movie in college and it was the first time I saw Angelina Jolie in anything, and she blew me away.
Every now and then there's a time when I see an actor and just know they'll turn into a big star, and this was one of them. I remember that with Brad Pitt in Thelma and Louise, Kate Winslet in Heavenly Creatures, and Angelina Jolie here.
(I also love Kristin Hersh and her music over the end credits was icing on the cake.)

One of my absolute favorites! Fantastic performances all around, and a beautiful portrait of female friendship and intimacy that I wish I could’ve experienced in high school.
