Severance: The You You Are Rewatch

Helly leaves the break room, after apologizing 1,072 times. Mark and Ms. Cobel attend Petey's funeral. Irving finds a copy of Ricken's book. Helly goes to war with her outie.
Helly: Why aren’t we supposed to map the office? Mark: It’s an Eagan rule. “Render not my creation in miniature.”
Helly: The work is bullshit. Mark: The work is mysterious and important.
Ms. Cobel (in the best line reading of the episode): Hi, Mark. I’m just catching up with your trainee.
Helly's outie is mean. "I am a person. You are not. I make the decisions. You do not."

Bah, forgot my second favorite quote from the episode:
Irving: It’s absurd we’ve never visited them before now. Kier’s whole original vision saw us all working together. Dylan: That was before O&D started disemboweling people’s bowels.

It always struck me as terribly horrible that Helly's outie explicitly tells the innie that they are not a "person." Brutal, and shows some kind of self-hatred, but a great setup for a later Helly scene.
Game theorizing, but innie only needs the conviction to harm themself in protest to "win" the game - unless outie has explicit guaranties that the innie would not be able to do so. So innie does.

Have there been any particularly good theories about why the non-severed are shadowing the severed outside of Lumon?

Mark was an unsanctioned pet project by Cobel to prove reintegration was possible. The show’s been dropping hints that Cobel is somehow trying to reconnect with her dead mother — that her mother was an early severed patient and may still exist after death as a personality on a chip.

I just read the Severance book in the last few days, and there's not much new information in it, but it is a very different depiction of the relationship between an innie and outie. I appreciated it for that, especially after Helly/Helena.
The duet between Petey and June was lovely.
