Paradise: Wildcat is Down
February 3, 2025 12:14 PM - Season 1, Episode 1 - Subscribe
It's just another day in Paradise until Xavier Collins discovers one of the world's most powerful individuals has been viciously murdered. Xavier analyzes the crime scene while recalling his complex relationship with the victim.
Woo hoo, you got to posting this so I didn't have to! :)
This is the review that sold me on the show, because secret sci-fi.
So far I find Xavier too stoic and boring AF to watch and the president is charming obnoxious sleazebucket, but the premise is enough to keep me interested so far. Always like people having to camp out in that giant Colorado mountain where all the sci-fi shows hide their secret world-saving cities.
So far the one piece of emotion we get out of Xavier is that his wife clearly didn't make it to the secret bunker and he' s mad at the president for it. Also odd that the president thinks Xavier is his buddy when even at the start, their relationship is ice cold.
Shutting down everything and everyone for a half hour does look suspicious, though.

What got me in the trailer was the single shot of the psychiatrist's hand with the written instruction to Xavier during the interrogation: "Say yes"

I was lucky enough to see this without knowing the big reveal.
"Huh," said I. "Didn't see that one coming."

IMO this might have been the worst pilot to a show ever. The secret service main character is so dull and the inside the house murder plot was Scooby Doo level cheesy. And then at the end they sling that they live in a dome in a mountain and there are hundreds to thousands of people outside supporting life in the dome? Talk about burying the lede and showing the least interesting story going on.
The CBS Under the Dome show was so bad it circled back to good - I guess that's my only hope for this one.

After the first ep, I'm guessing that everyone in the outside world was killed by giant peaches, killer tomatoes stylee
