The Pitt: 4:00 PM

"I can't wait for this shift to be over."
So happy I found an hour this weekend to watch this (first thing I'm doing with this window of free time)! Poor Dana, love that Myrna was willing to 'make it look like an accident'. And wow Santos being right about Langdon is heartbreaking!

That was nice and felt fresh. Sorry to see Langdon go, but thems the breaks. This was the last episode in this 24h. Love Noah Wyle, love everyone on this show. Very graphic but also applauded for it.

I didn't want Santos to be the stereotypical unstable woman who flips out, but I also didn't want that Langdon "reveal ", which was just another trope.

Bucking the general feeling, I thought Langdon was mostly an asshole (some redeeming qualities) and I'm glad to see him get his comeuppance. I'm more curious about Santos's background, that she reacted the way she did to the Dad whose wife poisoned him and how she noticed these signs on her first day, signs more seasoned doctors were missing.
I thought Whitaker and the burn victims Mom was sweet. I wanted to scream at Mel that her special sauce (hate that phrasing) is her unique perspective and empathy and carefulness.

You were right after all, Fen! Ultimately incredibly tragic. Seemed like a decent enough asshole who got fucked up with the benzos. The repercussions of getting canned during residency are pretty dire.
McKay/Matteo stuff was hilarious.

Dr. Robby is Going Through It today for sure. But his awesome move riling up a lot of nurses about safety and putting Corporate in the middle of it? A thing of beauty.
Whittaker has a heart of gold and the saddest puppy dog face and I just want to cuddle him. And his collection of farmboy superpowers is hot.

And yeah, I kind of hope they... I dunno, do a bit more with Langdon? From a viewer point of view all we sort of have is that Santos had some questions about the meds that were administered being slightly under-performing and some cap issues that are kind of unfamiliar to someone not in the field, and Robby finding a stash of meds in Langdon's locker. I assume those were the same vials? I didn't get a good look at 'em. And then it was just "hey I had that back pain remember" to Robby throwing him out of the ER and that was over kinda quickly.

Oh yeah, sorry about above, for some reason I thought it was ten episodes, not fifteen.

Kyol, I believe that the meds Robby found in Langdon's vial were the missing Librium pills. In a very early epside, a frequent flier was back in the ER with all of his Librium pills (that had been prescribed, I think, by Langdon) missing. They seemed to think then that the frequent flier either took too many, which I believe he denied, or lost them. IIRC, again this is all the way from early on, the frequent flier needed them to prevent symptoms associated with alcohol withdrawal. Librium is similar to Xanax, which I believe is the liquid medication that was having the cap issues or not working as it should have at a given dose .
I do agree that there would have had to have been some more official formal procedures involved.

Oh right, as seen in the "previously on The Pitt", I think? Still, it was probably the first part of the drama that went from vague uncertainty and accusations to getting escorted out the door in like 5 minutes. Like, I can (and do!) gladly hand wave away medical drama that I don't understand because I'm not an expert in it, so if it sounds good, sure, I'll let it pass, but mystery and interpersonal office drama? Bring it on!
Noah Wyle just needs to be careful he doesn't crib too closely from ... uh. who was it in ER, Doug Ross' prescription hijinks I think? I mean I can't picture Greene popping pills, and they probably knew better than to have Benton have a drug storyline.

Since we have 5 more episodes I'm assuming we'll get a lot more of the Langdon story. I suspect this was just his boss saying "you're on leave right now, get out, assume you'll have to talk to HR at some point," without actually saying it.

ellieBOA, I loved reading that because one of the things I have found interesting and refreshing about this show is the characters' reactions to teaching, criticism, becoming aware of bias, etc.

The only problem I have had with Santos is the nicknaming and then refusing to stop when pointedly asked to. I like her ambition but there's no need to be mean to people.

fennario, I didn’t think I was biased because I thought she was hot and therefore less annoying, but I still thought she was wrong about the meds!

Actually I do have a contribution: the code stroke being treated as an anomaly is pretty hilarious after the number of patients they've tubed so far this shift. My hospital has a medium sized ED and we probably have at least 2 - 3 code strokes a day whereas when I worked at a trauma hospital it took me forever to get my airway certification done because no-one was obliging enough to need intubation during any of my day shifts for months on end.
