2002: After some time apart, Lori resumes her creative partnership with Aimee-Leigh, and Lori's husband isn't a bit happy about it.
All we could think was "poor Kelvin."
Also, the actor playing young Jesse has so nailed the adult's mannerisms and speech that it's scary.

All the child-versions of the three siblings are pretty great - when child-Judy menacingly swerved her head back and forth, I could easily picture adult-Judy. But yeah, this episode made me look up the actor who plays child-Jesse to see if he's related somehow - there were moments in this episode where his voice really sounded the same. I've rarely been impressed by child actors (technically the kid who plays Jesse is now 19, but close enough).
My bet is someone is getting fed to those gators.

The young versions of the Gemstone kids have always been great but young Jesse especially pitch perfect.

I’m thinking that Cobb is the one murdering Lori’s boyfriends and that he threw the brick in the gummy episode. Didn’t she say to Eli something like “I need to tell you the truth about my husband?” That would give us a nice escape from worrying about her being sketchy.
Also gators are terrifying.

*I have never been clear on how old Jesse is supposed to be. 2002 Jesse looks about 17 to me, but I'm pretty sure he has to be at least 25. I'm also old, and frankly everyone under 30 looks like a teenager to me.
I don't think he's supposed to be that old at all; based on little Kelvin's "babies having babies" snark I think he and Amber are meant to be extremely young parents.

*Cobb knows, at the very least, that the Bible passed from Grieves to the Gemstones, and wasn't theirs originally. Cobb doesn't strike me as a big historical research kind of guy, but even he must see it as a little strange that Grieves' name was crossed out. (This may be why Eli kept it in a glass case, though it's hard to say what he knows about his forebears. I don't imagine Elijah was very honest with anyone about things, though perhaps there was a deathbed confession.)

*On a related note, 2002 doesn't seem like it was that long ago to me, but when I realized Kelvin was karaokeing "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down, I turned into a pile of dust.
*"My fuckin' hunks!!"
*The Hu's "Wolf Totem" is from 2019, and I presume its anachronistic inclusion in this episode is simply because it's pretty great.
