Look, for all we know, Slater wants all that stuff because the CIA is trying to protect the royal family. Is there a closet MeFite among the Archer writers? Of course, we all know that there is no Cabal.
From what?
Cabals.
What?
Yes, sinister cabals! I bet the royal palace is lousy with them.

That was a surprisingly explicit sex scene for American television.
That and Lana talking pretty frankly about "breaking her pussy" and such. I've noticed every other show saying "dick" a lot, but I can't recall "pussy" on anything other than a pay network.
To tell the truth, though, it seemed like this episode was pretty much orchestrated filler to get us to the sex scene. With the tranq gun running gag holding things together.
I guess Krieger will be fitting Ray with some robo-bionic hand, now?

I feel like Futurama and Archer share a thing where they keep Lana and Leela all bottled up until you've kinda forgotten about them, then break out an episode where they get to have as much fun as the other characters and you're like "oh yeah, flipping great character(s)".

The plot arc of Krieger cyborging people is interesting. I have a feeling it was something that grew rather than planned from the start, but I wonder if there's an end game joke that's being/going to be built up to?
Conway Stern loses his hand in s01e03 (Diversity Hire). We totally don't find out that Krieger gave him a new cybernetic hand until s04e03 (Legs).
Barry gets dropped off a fire escape in s02e12 (White Nights) and we find him cyborged by the Russians in s02e13 (Double Trouble). The very next episode.
Krieger reveals fully cyborged Katja in s03e11 (Skin Game) after she mostly-died in s02e13 (Double Trouble). Almost an entire season later.
Ray doesn't get a permanent spinal/leg injury until s03e13 (Space Race Part II) and gets cybernetic legs (lower spinal column?) in s04e03 (Legs).
Barry is definitely the first reveal of cybernetics (s02e13), and his was done by the Russians.
When Krieger found out about Barry (s02e13 Double Trouble), he cursed that he had spent 8 years trying to succeed. So, does Krieger's success come from gaining Russian technology or that he managed to succeed on his own? His first reveal was s03e11, but his work on Conway could have been anything from s01e03 onwards.

Clearly you never watched Niptuck, which was on on the mid 00s

And there was no nudity warning (at the top of the show, at least -- I skipped over the ad-break content advisories).

I was a little taken aback by it -- "...heard you get hard", "pussy" and the sex scene. It bugged me a little bit, actually, though I can't quite articulate why. I'm in favor of vulgarity and sex and this show has always been about the low humor. Maybe it's because I enjoy how it's very slyly vulgar, and this wasn't sly at all.

Yes, "heard you get hard" is already more overt, in a weird way, than is the norm.

The foley artists must have had a fun time.

Thanks! I had been, not taken aback, just surprised and couldn't articulate why. This is perfect. I wonder if it was part of the characters being honest with each other to be explicit in their thoughts and actions rather than be safe behind a veneer.

How's Clone Krieger's cybernetic skills, I wonder?

Oh man, I kind of loved how the prince turned out to be a total naif and started narrating his disbelief/excitement over the possible sex-making with Lana.
SPEAKING of Lana, she's been all kinds of naked on-screen before, but something about the porned-out hair and the new animation this year made her look wholly different in the Surprisingly Explicit Sex Scene. Like, new-model different.

Well, despite the postnatal yoga, she did just give birth.

Maybe because it was the button people were taken aback by it? Or because it was kinda just.. fun (almost all the other Lana sex scenes were always the punchline of Archer is an ass)?
As AV Club has noted, the quality of animation has cleared benefited by better budgets (the Bullitt chase scene was amazing). I'm betting one reason they haven't done something like this in the past is because it would have looked too stiff (har har). Watch the walking and other physical motion in Season 1. Literally cutouts.

But we've seen Archer walk in on Lana and Cyril having sex in the office, in pretty much the same position. It really didn't feel like it was the animation as much as she actually looked different.
