Sigh.

That Katya fake-out was just mean.

Well, this is not the worst possible outcome.

And I did sort of call it.

I just didn't care who won, all of my favorites went home weeks ago. The fakeout was kind of funny, I guess. Bianca should have been crowned again.

Blah blah bad jokes blah blah touching family moments.

Who knew LOGO had $5000 to give away to (the very deserved) Miss Congeniality? I guess NastyPig and BoyButter are paying those bills.

C'Mon, season 8 (and All-Stars 2)

Did anyone watch the recap episode, and if so, was it worth the time?

Overall it was a snooze. I didn't love the top three's numbers but it was a helpful tool to remind the audience of the different personalities offered- the fact that they had to remind us isn't exactly a testament to the storytelling happening this season. Violet's song was objectively best in my eyes mostly due to the focused nature of the lyrics.

The whole Miss Congeniality section was perfection. Michelle and Ben in the conjoined twin costume was divine and of course watching Katya do anything is goddamn delight.

Even with warnings from attendees on the Katya fake out, for one transcendent moment I got really, really excited and believed she could be crowned. I legit got teary. What can I say? I am a dreamer.

The recap episode was pretty lame per usual- the forced commentary is never on point.

I actually thought Ginger and Violet's numbers both showcased their skills pretty well and I could have seen either of them winning. When Pearl's ended (and hey, a few points at least for choosing something caled "Sleepwalker"), my friends and I looked at one another and said, "What, was that only about a minute long?" I suppose Pearl was at least somewhat aware that she had zero chance of winning, especially with that "Well, you didn't go home" insult to Ru.

of course watching Katya do anything is goddamn delight

Except... that wig. That lame little wig she wore was a betrayal of our love.

Man, I just hated that Ru did the fakeout with Katya, because it just underscored that the show really didn't see its own true storyline while trying to force the "youth vs. old-school" story it had landed on. About halfway through filming, someone, ANYONE should have looked at the dailies and said, "This one is our winner. Change course and edit another storyline...kick this sleepwalker Pearl out the door and let's get to work!"

Instead, we just limped along to the finale, where even the Top 3 couldn't manage to rouse themselves into any sort of excitement. They all looked like they were there to fulfill their contractual obligations, get their door money, and scoot. Too bad. I hope Season 8 blows us away with talent, because otherwise, this show is over for me.

No love for Kennedy's AMAZING hair and gown?

God, I wish I had opportunities to wear that kind of look.

Jezebel's article summed up my thoughts: What the Hell Happened on RuPaul's Drag Race? In response to a comment questioning Minj's stage personal as schtick (you remember you're watching a drag show, right?) and asking how can you be a bitter old queen if you're only 29? Well, if you've been doing drag for longer than the other finalists, for starters.

As my wife and I were watching the finale, she asked if there was ever a plus size queen in the top three, so I pulled up Wikipedia. Unfortunately, that ruined the ending of the episode, and this season's winner was already listed, an we saved ourselves the rest of the drawn-out ordeal. We skipped ahead to see Katya win Miss Congeniality, and Bianca Del Rio return as a golden silver goddess. As a quick reminder of what we had last season, everybody loves puppets! Those puppets had more Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent than Violet and Pearl.

Oh god, Adore's imitation of Ben... and the Bianca puppet's teeth made from Lee Press-Ons...

And Bianca took it all so well. The worst of the lot was Courtney, but she was the Violet/Pearl of that season, all about fishy glamour. Except she could really sing and dance, unlike Violet and Pearl, which reminds me of more ways the prior season stomped all over this one, in terms of the queens who made it to the later stages.

With that said, I think it would be interesting to have Ultimate Death Match Drag Race, pitting all the prior queens against each-other, to see how they've progressed since Drag Race, and also to cast shade on certain seasons as being rather thin *cough*Season 7*cough*.

As far as I'm concerned this was the correct choice out of the three, but really I was only tuning in to watch Katya tell RuPaul to pee on her and then walk away with a consolation cash prize. I actually liked the fake-out, truth be told; a nice acknowledgement that Katya was a little underserved by the show.

Oh man though, those puppets from last season. S6 had such a strong field.
