Lore: Episode 7: In the Woods

Stepping into the woods is like stepping through a doorway to another world. A world that hides dark secrets from prying eyes, and holds unknown dangers for unprepared travelers. But some woods are more sinister than others, and Massachusetts just might play host to the worst of them all.

I started listening to this podcast last week and breezed through the first six episodes pretty much immediately. This was probably my least favorite episode so far, though. The central story felt less grounded in the liminal area between clear fact and mysterious events. Instead, it just felt fictional. It's hard to put my finger on exactly why, given that these stories are inherently the kind of thing that's going to seem made up. Maybe it lacked the historical context to ground it in reality? Some of the other episodes have had that, so that the creepy parts grew more naturally out of the stories of, for example, the Hoosac Tunnel or the mausoleum on San Juan Island.

Still, a podcast that I'm super excited about and really looking forward to the next episode.

Yeah, that's a good assessment.

At least for me were all things that were easier to connect to, but these were spooky woods of the northeast. I was also a little unclear of the actual geography of the place.

Still, though, it's a solid "B+" of an episode.

Neat - I have not heard of this podcast before, even though it seems to be recorded around the corner from where I work.

>I have not heard of this podcast before

That is sweet, sweet music to my ears.

Hope you enjoy it; it's quickly become one of my favorites. It's only bi-weekly for now, though it looks like he might be moving to weekly sooner than later.

I feel like this only makes sense if you work in a Romanian graveyard.

Hey, thanks for posting about this! I checked out the first few episodes of the podcast and am really enjoying it, even if I did make the mistake of listening late at night.
