Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries: Dead Air
September 16, 2015 8:35 PM - Season 2, Episode 11 - Subscribe

The Fisher household's new wireless broadcasts bad news with an on-air murder, prompting Phryne and an undercover Jack to battle a wily killer.

*After learning that Hugh expects her to quit working for Miss Fisher after the wedding, Dottie gives back his engagement ring, but after Hugh agrees to a long engagement while he comes to terms with marrying a 'modern woman', she takes the ring back.
*The episode ends with possibly the most definitive Jack/Phryne UST moment, a duet of "Let's Misbehave" at the piano.

One of the things I remember about this episode even weeks and months after watching it was how well Jack Robinson did on the radio in his undercover announcing gig. He has an amazing voice that really touches me, possibly because it reminds me so much of my late father's (without the Aussie accent, obviously) before his partial laryngectomy--a resemblance heightened by the fact that my father dressed in that very classic style with the slicked back hair all his life. (Dad was born in 1917 so men like Jack Robinson would have been his childhood role models.)

Quick note on "Let's Misbehave", that Miss Fisher and the Inspector finished the show out on. I was confused on why it seemed familiar, but not in a 1920s context.

It's Elvis Costello.
