That ending!! What! I don't remember the last time a network show shocked me like that.

100% agree. Absolutely did not see it coming. They did a great job of obviously establishing future plots so no way - oh.

Chiming in with another round of did not see that coming! Kudos, Nashville, for quite the surprise.

For a few seconds, I thought they were gonna have Colt fall of the balcony, which while f*cked up would have made sense in a soappy way: punishment for having sex with Queen Rayna's daughter AND getting drunk, and setting up a whole Maddy sob story.
So Jeff faling caught me by surprise, then I was like 'at least it wasn't Colt', and then 'Nah, they did not kill off Jeff Fordham just as he was starting to get interesting'.

I read this interview with Oliver Hudson this morning and he talks a lot about how Jeff's character was finally starting to be sort of multidimensional after playing a straight villain for the first two seasons. ("I love it because Jeff has been a dick this entire time, and in the last season and the beginning of this season, we get to see a little bit of his heart and we get to see him let go a little bit and fall in love a little bit and soften up a little bit only to have him fly off the top of a building.")

I didn't realize he'd gotten a gig on another show which sort of made his exit inevitable. I'm glad they didn't just write him out, though.

I wonder what they're going to do with Juliette now that Hayden Panettiere is taking a break as well. She has two more episodes, the last being November 18th. I surely hope they'll get the character into some sort of lengthy treatment program and then when she comes back they can drop the out-of-control starlet/bad mom thing, which is getting a bit tired.

I knew they couldn't kill off Juliette, but I thought it was going to be Colt, too.

Ditto.

Ok, I read the article that something something linked to; was I the only one who didn't know that he was Kate Hudson's brother?! Mind. Blown.

You must not have made it through those last, terrible seasons of Dawson's Creek! He's been on my radar since then.

I think Jeff might land on a dumpster and then roll underneath it and then come back in another couple of episodes as a zombie.
