This just wrapped up, but all three episodes are available online for a couple more weeks if you have access to BBC iPlayer.

It started a bit slow, and I couldn't tell how much of the lead's initial stiffness was deliberate, but I thought the final episode tonight was scarily compelling and really well filmed, and Mardy Ma was incredible as Mei's mother. It left me feeling uneasily oppressed all evening.

The exploration around the one child policy, adoption and police corruption is probably a bit shallow, but for such a short series I suppose it would have to be. It was a very visceral experience of it nevertheless.
