My heat breaks for Vanessa and then I realize I should worry about sort of damage she'll do to Dracula for messing with her.

Poor creature. Finally has a chance to do some good, but everyone hates the sight of him. The show feels like its overdoing that a bit, as it's hard to believe that child would fear the look of his dad that much.

Justine is delightful and asking all the right questions, such as why Dorian is still around. How long before Dorian starts making plans for Justine and crossing Lily's angry path?

Hey, another black person. Non speaking part, but still, progress!

I still can't care about Ethan's arc. It really drags, feels like it should have one, maybe two episodes.

RIP Hectate, you would have been welcome at my dinner table for the conversation alone. Though really, a single gun shot takes her out?

I don't see why Lyle won't be around. That hairstyle alone should guarantee him permanent placement.

Poor Lily. Except for Ethan she just keeps getting stuck with people who want a doll to play with rather than a person. I should go back and watch the episode where Frankenstein realizes Lily is her own person, bet it is very similar to Grey's expression.

Yeah! I still don't know why he hates his dad to the point he'll team up with the dude who tortured and murdered the part of the family he did care about. It is super frustrating and makes me slightly worried that there aren't proper motivations for all these operatic forces.

Last year, they were killable like normal people if you could get past their cloaking/illusion/whatever powers. It seems like it is playing into the Dracula/lucifer physical/spiritual split as the vamps have been physically imposing but don't have the rest of their power suite that I recall.

She is going to obliterate him. I wonder if Lucifer is going to end up playing a real role in this season. If she starts uses the book and the devil's tongue ...

Even dense Dorian knows he's gotta GTFO after hearing how Lily's troops talk about men/johns. He can't have forgotten how he treated Brona, and Lily mentions specifically that she remembers everyone from her previous life. On a similar note, i wonder what plot arc would be enough to redeem Victor, if it's even possible.

If Victor were to reanimate or cure the creature's son, that might do it.

Justine annoys me. I wanted to enjoy the Dorian/Lily power couple for longer and it seems strange that Lily wouldn't recognize how dangerous Justine's divide and conquer blood lust could be. The wayward women don't really seem to be an army. Lily's plan so far is to teach them to kill on their own, but that's not an army. I hope she has more of a plan than that.

Could team Lucifer be any more pathetic? Aside from the snakes, which were just a random turning point for Ethan, Lucifer apparently can't magic up water in the desert (which would be useful) and can't be arsed to protect one of his more devoted disciples WHO SEDUCED THE LUPUS DEI. Considering Lupus Dei plays with Vanessa, you'd think Lucifer would show up personally to save Hecate in order to score more points with Ethan. (Check it, God didn't save your lady love. I did.)

Oh Creature, I doubt his son would be that disturbed by his father's appearance and I wish they would give him something other to do than be scorned. We know he can act. LET HIM. Certainly Caliban knows by now about circuses where he would at least feel more at home and find something closer to community.

I don't know who I'll miss more, Mr Lyle or Simon Russell Beale. (Imhotep, of course, is the name of The Mummy.)

Catriona Hartdegen struck me as a bit too modern, in style, dress, and mannerisms. We'll see how the character develops, but I'm approaching her cautiously. I did try to source her name, but couldn't find much. Hartdegen was the surname given to the Time Traveller in the 2002 remake of H G Well's The Time Machine. The writer credited for the screenplay of that film: John Logan. DUN DUN DUNNNNN For that matter, Catriona is the first name of the actress who plays a time traveller in another show! ILLUMINATI/CLEGANEBOWL/HALFLIFE 3 ALL CONFIRMED

ugh, yes. i hate that this is very obviously going to lead to dorian siding with horrible lil vicky over whatever, either removing justine's memory or allowing vicky to mindfuck lily.

They had better not be writing Lyle out of the show, as he is the best character. Also, I have no idea what his unspeakable habits that make him unfit for Victorian London could possibly be, given that virtually everyone around him seems to be flagrantly bisexual.

If the next season is nothing but Lyle's gay dandy adventures in Egypt, however, I will be entirely satisfied.

Dorian only likes the novelty of things, and only things that he can make entirely his. His infatuation with an army of murderous prostitues was never going to last, and he'll do something terrible once this new toy loses its shine. He's easily the most monstrous character on the show.

Lyle could be referring to being Jewish instead of sexuality.

The new character is fun but I'm not sold on why we need to replace Lyle with her.

Victor's kidnapping went about as well as I expected it to. Seriously, you couldn't even be bothered to case out the place enough to realize she had 20 people in there?

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when Justine goes off book and tries to kill Dorian. Dorian, on the other hand, is absolutely going to turn Lily over to frankenstein and I'm less looking forward to that part of the mess.

Could Dr. Jekyll's formula cure Ethan?

Could Dr. Jekyll's formula cure Ethan?

Well, speaking meta-textually it seems unlikely that Dr. Jekyll's formula will "cure" Dr. Jekyll, let alone anyone else.

I was worried they were writing out Lyle but I can't imagine they would've specified he was headed to the tomb of Imhotep if they weren't planning for that to matter in the future. But they needed to isolate Vanessa from any close friends, I guess, so she'd turn to Dr. Sweet instead.

I like the new lady thanatologist but she's real close to tipping over the line into strong female character territory. (Those boots! Her whole post-fencing outfit, really.) I hope they'll humanize her a little more as we get to know her. I am intrigued by the possibility she's a time-traveler, though!

You're not wrong, but he did show Lily his painting, last season, so if things get really bad between them Dorian will potentially be in real danger, something he may not have considered.

humans are superior!: "Yeah! I still don't know why he hates his dad to the point he'll team up with the dude who tortured and murdered the part of the family he did care about. I kind of get why he hates his father, I mean just from the way he's behaved since he caught them, he's obviously kind of a terrible person, a kind of classic, overbearing, dominating, asshole dad. But they definitely should have spent more time on it, maybe had a flashback or three showing Ethan's damaging history with his father, for us to really grasp it. The thing I'm getting though is that Ethan hated his father's guts way before he ever met Kaetenay. Which is why he allowed them to attack his old home in the first place. And now he hates Kaetenay for killing his mother and siblings. I think him joining up with Kaetenay in that moment was not an expression of forgiveness but one of mere survival. His father was clearly set on either making him live out the rest of his days under his control or killing him. And he was probably going to kill Malcolm as well, who I think Ethan does actually care about.

The look on Dorian's face when Lily nixed the idea of Justine killing him because "who would the others practice on", was priceless. It was the exact moment when he realized he wasn't in the driver's seat in this situation (he's more like, in the trunk) and it was glorious.
