Atlanta: The Streisand Effect
September 22, 2016 8:08 PM - Season 1, Episode 4 - Subscribe
When a b-boy/ photographer/ internet star/ blogger/ entrepreneur begins trashing Paper Boi online, he decides to end the beef. Darius helps Earn look for a way to make big money, fast.
This was a beautifully done episode.
Zan could have been an easy, one-dimensional joke. I liked the way they played it - some of the characters couldn't stand him (and I am right there with them), while others didn't see what the problem was. It's the little things like this that make the series feel much more real to me.
Also, I resisted most of the day, but finally had to google "Is Freddie Kuguru black?" I didn't get an answer, but did learn that he lists "Tiger Woods impersonator" on his resume, speaks Swahili, and is surprisingly good looking when he's not playing an ass.

There's been a gun in every episode. I could do without that, but overall, I just really look forward to this show.

More songs than I realized, many were used pretty subtly (or I totally focused on the action and overlooked the music. Sepinwall associated the episode with other music biz shows, but noted this focuses on smaller stories, to its benefit. He also liked the realism of Zan, having experienced similar people in his own life.I really like the show, so I'm stoked that after only 3 episodes (before this one aired) FX has renewed the show for a second season of 10 episodes, one more than this season.
