Discussing story heavy games?

I just finished Night in the Woods, which is a story heavy interactive fiction game (blue thread here). I know that Fanfare doesn't have a game category, but what are the chances we could have a discussion for it here?

Sounds fun! I haven't played Night in the Woods, but I'd be interested in talking about games like it, such as Oxenfree, Firewatch, Telltale's games, etc.

I just finished it last night.

Here as in, in this thread? Or on FF?

There is also mefightclub.

I was thinking on Fanfare. It doesn't feel right to use a backdoor to discussion if that's not what the mods want for the site.

It's that time we discuss adding games and music to FF again?

I wasn't sure if this was worth kicking up to MeTa or not. I guess I will?

Although I'm guessing the answer would be no, I'd back your idea of allowing some narrative-driven (or at least games where story is more than 5 minutes before each session of shooty-shooty-boom-boom), even if just as an experiment.

I am emphatically in support for discussing narrative-centric games on FanFare. Let me know if you need me to sign an affidavit to that effect.

I kicked it up to MeTa here, and the response seems to be that we can give it a trial run as a club - which I like! I think step one is probably picking a game. Night in the Woods is new, and at least a few of us have played it, but also somewhat expensive and, well, new. I think it's better to make a new Fanfare Talk post about this rather than do it here, just for the sake of consistency. I'll do that tomorrow and get the ball rolling on the first discussion.

This can only end in madness when someone opens the first Metal Gear Solid thread.

The Chip & Ironicus drunk history videos would be relevant to such a discussion!

Hi everyone: We're going with Gone Home, and I'll put up the first club thread on Fanfare next week (the 15th).

I've started a post here.

I've been meaning to play Gone Home, also The Beginners Guide..... I may be onboard with this. Previously the only story-heavy games I've played were... Japanese lets say.
