My Brother, My Brother And Me: MBMBaM 346: Blue Eyes, White Dragon, Can't Lose

The joke that constitutes the title of this episode is absolutely the best thing in this episode, and I'm very, very sorry for ruining it, but I can't imagine titling this episode anything else. This joke is important. This joke is historically meaningful. Suggested talking points: Justin's Nautical Secrets, Coupon Flirting, Bad At YuGiOh, Soup Rules, Shoes Off!, Guy Another Day, True Beef Season 3, Hamilton in a Hurry
I assumed the theme was beef or burgers. But it also sounds like Griffin might have chosen some Yahoos on his own?

It felt like they did fewer Yahoos than usual (this is based on no research at all on my part) -- maybe the theme didn't have time to develop. Otherwise yeah, I'd say the burgers.

I'm amused because I've seen lots of people confused about the title joke because they don't know the FNL reference. Whereas I had to look up the Yugioh reference. It was still pretty damn funny though because most of the bit involved knowing FNL tropes.
(And I've never actually seen FNL either but have picked up enough via osmosis.)

I don't know what a yu-gi-oh is so I just pretended to myself it was a joke about this novel cover art from my youth and laughed accordingly. worked well.

I can't imagine listening to that segment without knowing what yugioh is. It would be completely unintelligible.

I often have no idea what they're talking about -- I was never a pre-teen boy so there goes a lot of the references -- but I still like the jokes. I think that's what makes this show good, that even when they're being specific (and I know it's more rewarding when you know the stuff) it's still funny in the general.

well if it helps, that is the only thing they have ever discussed that I do not know much about, including things all people including the mcelroys should be ashamed to know of, like patrick rothfuss novels. talk about unintelligible though, I bet that there are one or two people in the world who don't get their Zork jokes, which is imaginable but terribly saddening.
I also listen to the coolgames inc podcast even though I have never played a video game in my life, because Nick Robinson's mellifluous tones do for me what ASMR videos purportedly do for other people. do I need to know what a "game" is to find it very soothing and gently amusing? I do not
