I agree with the mediocre reviews - Jason Ritter's charisma made the episode watchable, but, the premise doesn't seem sustainable for a series.

"celestial guide" is funny as hell. I mean just call the magical position what it is. Terrible idea for a show, and I wish it would have been cancelled after the pilot. Just to send a message to anybody who tries this foolishness again.

Ugh... It's like they took the worst/most cliched TV/movie tropes and decided to make a show entirely leveraging them:
- "magical negro"
- "sassy black woman"
- "reluctant hero"
- "accidental hero"
- "epipaphany therapy"
- "former" "aloof big brother"
- "emo teen"

... and who knows how many more...

Well... I guess every generation needs to be "touched by an angel" again or else they won't be able to navigate the "highway to heaven"...

(The more TV I watch, the more I think I could be a TV writer... Just need to be able to access TV tropes and glue together ideas)
