Movie: Embrace of the Serpent
This was the first Colombian film ever to receive an Oscar nomination (in 2015). It tells of an indigenous shaman, the last of his tribe, who accompanies two travelers deep into the Amazonian jungle, in search of a magical plant. In crisp B&W, except of a 2001-style "Stargate" coda in astonishing colors. [more inside]
