Meanwhile, Aethelstan has a religious experience and declares himself a born again Christian, which leads to problems among the rest of the viking community, particularly Floki.

The Vikings return from England to discover a surprising death and news of the visit by the Wanderer. Lagertha learns of her usurpation by Kalf and demands Ragnar take action to remove the traitor from her place of power. Ragnar and his warriors return to King Ecbert's court with the Princess Kwenthrith and her brother, leaving one battlefield for another.
