New challenges for the bladesmiths, and, for the first time, some contestants are women.
This season included:
* Salem, the bladesmith whose parents were pacifists
* the Scottish Claymore that literally bent when it struck a pig carcass
* a first round that prohibited power tools (coal forges!)
* a cutlass testing featuring gel ballistics dummies dressed up as sailors
* a contestant disqualified for not forging his blade (that is, not using heat plus hammer to shape it)
