I've got myself hooked on this show, but have been watching the seasons out of order (on Netflix). I started with S5, then S8, S7, then S6 and just finished S4 tonight.

I was intrigued by the upside-down cake portion - having only ever eaten/seen pineapple upside-down cake it was exciting to see a world of other options.

On the technical challenges I always wonder if the judging is really truly blind, especially as the weeks go on. In other arts/crafts I can often pick up on personal flourishes. Plus if they happened to glance at the contestants and notice one in particular looking more worried or happy than the others, in response to their remarks ...

I'm sometimes annoyed by the weird numbering scheme that we get in the US for this show, but on the other hand, I've been looking forward to seeing the salt rum baba after Sue mentioned it when Toby put salt in his angel food cake in s4, which in the US aired earlier than this one.

Good times.

I just discovered this show a few weeks ago and watched what I thought was season 6, but found out was season 9, so I decided to go back to season 1, but to do that while living in the U.S., I have to watch a totally different series called "the beginnings" like it's vampire origin story or something. We are a people divided by a common bake-off show.
