This is a bit of a mixed bag but fun in places and way better than either AvP. I'd agree it's better than most of the spinoffs (not seen Prey yet). Casting Adrian Brody seemed odd at the time. I remember an early battle scene where afterwards they do a headcount and someone (I think the Israeli sniper) asks what happened to the tough guy? I remember thinking, which one does she mean? Surely not the katana wielding yakuza? No, she means Brody.

It was... OK? Good cast, but it felt very much like a conscious extension of the franchise--instead of them coming here, they're bringing us there, and with kind of a downer ending, since we saw what happens to someone who has been on Game Reserve Planet too long. It has been interesting to see Topher Grace's career beyond That 70s Show having him play villains (see also: Spider-Man 3, American Ultra).

Yeah, I'd put this at #3.
1: Predator
2: Prey
3: Predators
4 (tie): Predator 2 & AvP (I kinda like both, despite some big flaws)
.
.
.
49873: AvP: Requiem
That's counting AvP in the Predator Franchise, natch.
Only one I haven't seen is The Predator, of which I hear not good things.

Nimród Antal directed some of Stranger Things this year. His Hollywood career has mostly been about classing up B pictures.
I read an interview with him where he was very frank that the money he has made for stuff like this and Vacancy (which was also solid in spite of its script) was life-changing for him and his family. He stopped short of saying they weren't great movies, but he was pretty easy to read.
