This was pretty solid. Good FX work that rivals even theatrical US stuff. Some imaginative visuals, like the mirror that made things larger, the sidekick/car/drone/robot Thunder, etc. The director knows his way around an action sequence. There was a parallel plot structure splitting the action between humans/aliens/robots in modern times and warriors/magicians in the 14th century and I liked that too.
As long as it is though (143 minutes) they don't spend much time on characterization, it's just Marvel-like stuff happening, mostly. And there isn't really an ending, so much as an early cliffhanger that cuts things off and tells you the story will continue next year. For those reasons, I'd say I liked it, but I can't give it more than maybe two and a half stars out of five.
I'll definitely be watching part two, but probably not at the theater again.
