An inept tae kwon do instructor struggles with marital troubles and an unhealthy obsession with fellow tae kwon do enthusiast Chuck "The Truck" Wallace.
That trailer looks so fun! I'm amazed that Danny McBride had that character fully formed so early on. Betcha he came out of the womb with that character ready to go.
Also, that character is exactly the kind of person to pronounce it "Thai Kwon Doh". Probably also has "inFlu-ence" and "nukular" in his vocabulary.

I like the Danny McBride character and this is like, the most sympathetic version of him, which is not saying much.

Hm, on second look, I can see that this comment could be read as classist. I was specifically referring to the trope of people, usually men, intentionally mispronouncing words as a kind of shibboleth, marking how macho and "plainspoken" they are. Mugging for the camera in a caricature of anti-intellectualism. Which is exactly who that character is.
Pundits like Jon Stewart, Bill Maher and Chris Matthews do a little of this to prove their 'murican bonafides*.
*"bonafides" said in a Danny McBride accent*

"inFlu-ence"
Uh oh.
I lived my teens in the Midwest and have been fighting the accent for many years. Is this another one I wasn't aware of? Shit.
I gave up on the words "hockey" and "mom." Those are coming out my mouth sounding like Elwood Blues with a head cold.

Ah, pardon my ignorance, didn't realize it was such a Midwest thing. Like Dax Shepard's accent, right?
I was speaking more to the people in the Joe Rogan-y space, not necessarily in the Midwest, but nonetheless have picked up certain verbal tics- some of these tics might have originated in the Midwest.
Is saying "cerate" instead of "create" a Midwestern thing?

No not at all, I'm just sometimes unaware of my own verbal tics. The great Midwestern sins are normally swapping "lie" and "lay," plus some very extended vowels with weird inflection.
Examples:
Highway 44 = Highway Farty Faar
Mom = Mahhm
Hockey = Hahhh-Kee
Illinois = EL nnn OY

Yes, this movie is full of violence and casual misogyny. I still thought it was funny as hell.
