Today, I'm going to post six movies that are problematic and/or made by/starring problematic people, but also either: have merit/are acclaimed; won some awards; are very popular; have a certain amount of cultural cachet. I'll be tagging these #problematicmovies.

This film is notoriously fatphobic. To its core.

The best thing you can say about this movie is that Gwyneth Paltrow regrets doing it. Judging from everything she's done since, it takes quite a feat to make Paltrow feel shame.

If you do watch this, I recommend Contagion as a follow-up which begins right away, I think even before the title card, with Gwyneth Paltrow dying a horrible, horrible fucking death.

It was semi-recently (or was it last year?) discussed in a bonus episode of Maintenance Phase.

It was very interesting to hear the movie critiqued in detail without having to watch it - they include one snippet that is kinda unbelievable in its cringeworthiness.

Did a single Farrelly Brothers movie age well? Even one?

This goddamn movie. I cannot tell you how much I hated it, and how much the hatred of it has stuck with me. I wish I could clear out the space in my brain it takes up for better, more worthwhile things, but I remember WAY more of this movie than I should. Ugh.
