"What the ph" is right!

I am loving this show. I haven't laughed this loud or long at a TV show in a long, long time. It's perfectly walking the line between being a Mystery Box and a parody of a Mystery Box, and I am 100% here for it.

When Clara cut open the boot to reveal that the cold open to this very show was, in fact, a sneaker commercial, I lost my damn mind. It's absurdly perfect, a surprise that simultaneously makes no sense at all, and absolute perfect sense.

Also, pretty sure Simone's mother will turn out to be the creator of Mrs. Davis -- that's why Mrs. Davis does a 'reset' every time she comes up when proxy'ing with Simone.

My money, at least right now, is that it is Simone's father who is behind the glitch, or the sneaker commercial, maybe both. This whole thing is completely nuts and I am here for it.

Why was the cat from the desert island on the tape?

Oh, that was Maria’s Original Famous Bakery. You want Maria’s Famous Original Bakery, over there.

I’m trying to understand how I’m watching a show that I clearly wrote, but I don’t remember being in the writers’ room and also this is much better than anything I could have come up with it.

This show is like if Axe Cop was a Damon Lindelof production.

I cannot get enough of Wiley's dumbass underground crack force. Every time what's-his-name picked up a phone, I started chanting "SNAP IT! SNAP IT!" at the screen.

Yes, this episode is back to unhinged form after last episode's comparatively tepid filler. I don't know if this is what the show is TRYING to say, but what it makes me think is how religion in general, and the Catholic church in particular, are the original Mrs. Davis (and hence the original Facebook doomscroll etc). A walled garden that tries to capture the entire lives of its users for money and power. Simone/Lizzy is under the influence of an algorithm much older and just as toxic (the sign on the door of God the Father is the same as the warning on her mother's workshop). I'm interested to see in how this all comes together, whether the crazy will end up making as much sense as Everything Everywhere All at Once, or if it will fall apart under its own weight at some point.

Wow so much in this episode.

- Danger is Simone's middle name.
- Does the "Famous Original Maria's" joke play at all for non-New-Yorkers?
- WHAT THE SHIT DO THE SHOES HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING MUCH LESS JAQEN H'GAR?!
- Is the show really going to go down the route of "you can't trust Jesus?" Because that'd be a hell of a swing from NBC.
- Props to this show, and Betty Gilpin in particular, for the scene of Simone just spite-snarfing down an entire King Cake on the steps outside the Vatican.
