Time Team have been invited to Aldbourne, Wiltshire, by Operation Nightingale, on the 80th anniversary since Easy Company were stationed here in 1943, shortly before D-Day. Working alongside service men and women from the US and UK, the team have just over a week to investigate the camp, once home to the iconic 'Band of Brothers'.

As Time Team continues to re-release old Specials on their YouTube channel, they've also partnered with original presenter, Tony Robinson, to offer new special episodes as well. Along with Matt, as co-presenter, and the team behind Operation Nightingale (featured on previous Time Team episodes). They're spending 8 days in Aldbourne digging the WWII campground for the famous Easy Company of the 501st PIR of the 101st Airborne Division.

That was pretty satisfying. I would have expected a lot more -trash- from the American soldiers but I suppose they were also pinched by the rationing in wartime Britain.

It did feel a little like the old vibe with Tony in the mix and Matt serving as his lead. I have to suspect there's been a lot of work on that pitch over time, but still amazing to see what remains in the ground even after redevelopment. (Lots of old WWII structures remaining, amazingly. We have a few here in Pasadena and I still miss old Building 20 on the MIT campus - another "temporary" WWII building that lasted until 1998.
